With the world opening back up and the fashion girlies excited to show up and show out, the most popular fall fashion trends are all about making a statement. Continue down below for a breakdown of the top trends we keep seeing over and over again, from editors and designers to your favorite instagram influencers.

IN"VEST"ED

It's all about the power dressing. In-office meetings are back with a vengeance and so is the suit vest. Easily dressed up or down, this classic essential can take you from the board room to the bar for after work drinks. Wear with a blouse under in the office, and then slip off the button down for your night out.

BIKER BABE

With things finally back on track in the fashion world, we are looking to the likes of Formula 1 and Nascar for inspiration. Vintage leather jackets can be found on the feed of every fashion blogger, from New York to Paris. Be it a vintage Depop find or the new and even cooler Diesel, these jackets will be perfect layering pieces as the weather cools down.

EARLY AUGHTS - THE 90S

ree

It's true what they say - fashion is a cycle and old trends are bound to come back. Take advantage of your mom's claims of "I used to have that!" and raid her closet for 90s pieces, particularly low-rise mini skirts and a pair of designer knee-high stiletto boots. Don't be afraid to add a baguette bag and claw clip to really emulate your favorite model-off-duty.

WIDE LEG TAILORING

ree

One of the few things to carry over from the early days of the Covid quarantine experience is the desire to be comfortable. While you won't catch us running out in sweatpants, loose, wide-leg pants is the fashion girl's easy outfit. These have quickly become a closet staple thanks to their versatility - style with a t-shirt and sneakers for your trip to Trader Joes, or throw on your favorite pair of pointed-toe heels to instantly elevate the look.

SLIP DRESSES

ree

In keeping with the 90s revival we are seeing, slip dresses have become the "it" piece for fall. Buy one slip dress and you will keep it forever - this will never go out of style. It is also the kind of piece that can be worn over and over in new ways - embrace the look all over you Instagram feed and pair it with knee-high cowboy boots, or keep it classic and wear a vintage slingback Chanel sandal.

LOAFERS

ree

Loafers are still here. We started seeing them last year and the trend has only gained momentum as we head into fall again. This shoe trend is here to stay so don't be afraid to invest in a good, quality pair. However, we are moving further away from the ultra chunky lug sole loafer and more into classic shapes - which is great for anyone who is a fan of a good thrift hunt.

TO THE FLOOR - MAXI HEMLINES

ree

After the micro-mini skirt trend of last fall, we have seen a quick 180 degree pivot. This trend is even easier than the above loafer to add to your wardrobe - stop by your local thrift store or raid your mom's closet for a floor-grazing skirt. Jerseys and silks were popular for the warmer months, but denim is ushering in those colder days.

ree

KITTEN HEELS

ree

As the fashion world looks more to sustainability and reinventing old pieces, the industry has seen a massive shift towards thrifting and designer resale. Along with this comes the renewed love of vintage heels. Carrie Bradshaw was 100% justified when she said, "I have this little substance abuse problem... Expensive footwear." Shoes can make or break a look, and being able to wear a pair that no one else has takes your outfit to the next level. Next time you are looking for a pair of heels, check Vestiaire or The Real Real before you take yet another trip to Nordstroms or Saks.

PARTY DRESSING

ree

This one is pretty self explanatory - we missed the days of dressing up and were tired of waiting for an excuse to put on a pretty outfit and show off. Now any day that we actually leave our house is an event in and of itself. While this trend might seem off-putting to those of us who prefer neutrals and basics, try out this trend by keeping the outfit simple and just adding one dressier piece. Try out a wide leg jean and a blazer, but spice it up with a sequin top. Or switch it around and do a fun, crystal bottom, but make it more manageable with a sweater and combat boot.

ree

CARGO

ree

As the debate continues over whether fashion has become more of a bottom-up system, there is no debate over this next trend - we have the TikTok fashionistas and Instagram street style accounts to thank for this one. Cargo pants have taken over our feeds this fall, and fashion week style snaps have kept the momentum going. Be it in denim, khaki, or tech form, cargo pants have become a must-have for this fall.

ree

PLEATED SKIRTS

ree

After last year's dark academia craze, the pleated skirt has come back with a twist. We are moving away from the library-feel of the pleated skirt styling and are seeing more of a 90s influence. This can be taken in two directions - a grunge feel with chunky, studded accessories, or a "Heathers" inspired direction with blazers and a collegiate feel.

ree

SHEER DRESSING

ree

As an addition to party dressing, sheer dresses are taking over. Seen on the likes of Gigi Hadid and Hailey Bieber, sheer laces are the new body-con. Wear your dress with contrasting underwear and a platform heel, or layer it with a button down and corset to give it more of a daytime look.

ree

BAGGY JEANS

ree

The skinny jean has been out for a while now, but jeans have hit a new milestone - they are now lower and baggier than ever. As Diesel makes it comeback, the baggy jeans has been solidified as a fashion-lovers' essential. Pair it with sneakers and a button down for a trip to the farmers market, or slip into your highest heel and slinkiest top for a night out.
